I honestly think learning the tools to lead a healthy lifestyle can be so empowering. Health and nutrition impact our lives on a daily basis. Due to this, I feel like providing youth with the tools they need to feel their best is priceless.

1. What inspired you to learn about healthy eating?

I believe it began during my childhood. Growing up I feel grateful that my mom was adding flax seeds to my homemade cookies and baking her own bread – the majority of the food I had was made from scratch.

The focus was always around feeling good within your own body. We were definitely allowed all sorts of foods including more processed items. With that being said, the emphasis was on energizing and nourishing your body with the foods that made you feel your best.

2. How do you think confidence relates to healthy eating?

For me it connects as I want to show up in the world as my best self. When I’m fuelling my body with foods that make me energized and satisfied I feel like I can be the best version of Amy.

Of course as with everything this is a journey filled with ups and downs – however I always strive to come back to a place where I’m feeling confident and comfortable within my own skin.

3. How has leading a healthy lifestyle allowed you to build more confidence and self-love?

It has helped me reduce my stress and nourish my body which in turn has been so incredibly helpful with building confidence.

Also it has helped me attract like minded individuals who inspire and encourage me to be the best version of myself – community is such a huge aspect.

4. What has been the biggest challenge in your career and how did you overcome it?

Probably deciding exactly where I want to focus. Personally I have so many areas within health and wellness that I am passionate about and want to share.

This is something I’m still working out – however recently I have found it so helpful to ask my audience what they would like to see from me. This has helped me so far narrow down a little and get more focused.

5.What is your favorite recipe?

Definitely my smoothie bowls – I am obsessed! They are packed with as many veggies as you would find in a salad but feel like I’m eating ice cream.

I sneak cauliflower into almost every smoothie and smoothie bowl and it is such a game changer. The trick is to use steamed then frozen veggies like cauliflower – it creates a smooth and creamy smoothie bowl with no cauliflower taste.

6. What inspired you to have a career in nutrition and well-being?

Ever since I can remember I have been researching new recipes and watching the cooking channel. This passion for food combined with my love of a healthy lifestyle really fuelled me to look into the career options.

Initially I was actually going to school to become a dietician however I pivoted once I realized there was a schooling to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. I’ve always believed that health and wellness is so much more than just the food that you consume and this schooling really encompasses that.

7. How can educating youth about health and nutrition better their future?

I honestly think learning the tools to lead a healthy lifestyle can be so empowering. Health and nutrition impact our lives on a daily basis. Due to this, I feel like providing youth with the tools they need to feel their best is priceless.
